REHABILITATION OF MANKADIA TRIBALS:-
Under the facilitation of Shri Ojha & IDP team 13 Nomadic Mankadia tribal families have been rehabilitated in Melan Village.Houses have been built with the financial assistance of the Government of Odisha.Before rehabilitation,the nomadic Mankadia tribal families were living with laf shanties/huts and earning their livelihood from Monkey catching and collecting roots and tubers from forest.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF TRIBALS:-
With the guidance of PRADAN and the District Administration Shri Ojha and IDP team have facilitated the marketing linkages of Sal Leaf Plates in Keonjhar district and upgraded the Skills of Tribal Women.The marketing linkages have now been well established and 5600 tribal Women are earning atleast Rs.3000/-per month from leaf-plate stitching which is supplementing to their family income.
PROTECTING TRIBALS FROM ELPHANT MENACE :-
Under the leadership of Shri Ojha and IDP team and cooperation from the District Administration,Forest Department,Police Department,Political Parties,Medias and the General Public Lives and Livelihood of tribal families were protected from Elephant Menace in Melan and Balijodi villages of Keonjhar district. Relief materials were provided from India Development Project and 18 houses have been constructed by Ghatgaon Panchayat Samity.Since Elephant Menace is a regular course of event,Village Committees have been formed alongwith Forest Department to scared away Elephants.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SELF-HELP-GROUPS :-
Under the leadership and guidance of Shri Ojha,IDP was the first NGO in Keonjhar district to organise Women Self-Help-Groups and linked them with Bank of India,Tarini Temple Branch,Ghatgaon which dates back to 23rd March,1995.The SHGs are engaged in IGP activities.Two SHGs namely,Maa Sarala Mahila Sangha and Brundabati Sanchaya Samity have been recognised as the best SHGs in Keonjhar district by the Government.
