The climate of Bihar is tropical monsoon. According to a study by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bihar has 14 districts among the 50 most vulnerable to climate change in India.  

These districts are Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Jamui, Sheohar, Madhepura, East Champaran, Lakhisarai, Siwan, Sitamarhi, Khagaria, Gopalganj, Madhubani and Buxar.

A large population of Bihar is engaged in agriculture. Sectors like agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry will be greatly affected by climate change. Climate change has been a recent area of intervention for DVAS to support the marginalized communities from adverse impact of climate change on one hand and also towards restoration and conservation of natural ecosystem. The organization has been promoting organic farming in its intervention area in a bid to reduce the culture of heavy application of chemical fertilizer in benefit of restoring soil fertility and quality of the crops produced.

Similarly several methods of water conservation have been demonstrated and trainings have been organized among the key communities to promote water conservation and to check the sinking level og ground water for present and future usage in 150 villages in Bihar. Further the organization has been sensitizing the urban community on adverse impact of pollution on human life among the city dwellers in 100 slums of Patna
